English Learner Data Collections

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) section 1111(h)(4) requires local education agencies (LEA) to submit annually data related to their English learner (EL) population, as well as their core ESL Program and their supplemental Title III Program (if relevant). This demographic and programmatic data is collected in Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE’s) Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS) and the Limited English Proficient (LEP) System for the purposes of compliance monitoring, federal reporting, accountability and data analysis.
EL coordinators and PIMS administrators receive webinar trainings provided by PDE specific to each data collection.  These webinars assist LEAs in reporting accurate data. PDE maintains an archive of recorded webinars and supporting materials for on demand viewing.
